EXCLUSIVE – Queensland government-backed network operator QCN Fibre has launched a new service offering fibre in datacentres across the state, with more in the works.
“Edge datacentres are an emerging industry sector and to date, high capacity backhaul has been a limiting factor,” said QCN Fibre CEO Derek Merdith. “Regionally based edge computing can fast become a reality with this significant increase in bandwidth. This is evidence of QCN Fibre continuing to drive coverage, capacity and competition into regional Queensland.”
QCN said its datacentre partners “will be able to seamlessly connect between their nodes, providing greater optionality of capacity and coverage supported with highly competitive rates.”
“This significantly improves latency, reduces risk of service disruption, and opens a realm of opportunities to create new services for their end customers,” a statement from the company said.
QCN is offering full redundant 10 and 100Gbps options.
