Brisbane, Australia, 10 June 2021 – QCN today launches a brand-new service, QCN edgeQnect providing high speed, point to point connectivity, protected over the QCN network with optional diverse hand off and fully redundant services including 10 and 100 Gbps options.

“Edge data centres are an emerging industry sector and to date, high capacity backhaul has been a limiting factor,” said QCN CEO, Derek Merdith. “Regionally based edge computing can fast become a reality with this significant increase in bandwidth. This is evidence of QCN continuing to drive coverage, capacity and competition into regional Queensland.”

“This launch by QCN is fantastic for the continued growth of the data centre industry in Queensland,” said John Henderson, General Manager Pulse Data Centre. “The edgeQnect product will provide Pulse DC customers more choice of high capacity, economical backhaul, effectively leveling the playing field with metro areas. EdgeQnect is a great opportunity for our existing and new customers.”

QCN’s data centre partners will be able to seamlessly connect between their nodes, providing greater optionality of capacity and coverage supported with highly competitive rates. This significantly improves latency, reduces risk of service disruption, and opens a realm of opportunities to create new services for their end customers.

QCN’s edgeQnect is available today across NQRDC (Townsville), Moranbah & NextDC B1 and shortly at Pulse DC (Toowoomba) and B2. Further expansion is planned into Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Cairns, Mackay, Blackwater an On Q Communications’ regional data centre locations in Townsville, Cairns and Mackay.
