Greg Young

Independent Director and Chair

Greg brings to the role of Chair extensive experience in telecommunications, having spent 13 years in global telecom positions during his 37 year career in telecommunications. Most recently Greg served for 3 years as CEO of Ooredoo Oman, one of the largest companies on the Oman stock exchange with some $1 billion in annual revenues from mobile, fixed and international telecommunications services. While there he led a dramatic uplift in share price, market share, revenue and profit. This was Greg’s second global CEO position having spent four years leading a turnaround at Sri Lanka Telecom. Prior to this he served in Telecom engineering roles as Vice President of Product Management at Qualcomm headquartered in San Diego, USA, and as Chief Technology Officer for the Indian CDMA operator Tata Teleservices, overseeing explosive subscriber growth in a Pan-Indian network. His earlier telecommunications career in Australia spanned technical and commercial roles with Telstra, Phillips and Ericsson. Greg is a proud member of the Sunshine Coast community.

Rachel Bauer

Independent Director

Rachel is the Chief Operations Officer at Like a Photon with extensive Operational, IT, Finance and Marketing management experience gained through such roles as managing a retail bank branch as co-franchisee, senior marketing manager and as an executive/IT management consultant. Rachel has wide-ranging business technology experience, including a Bachelor of Information Technology (with Distinction), a certification in Blockchain for Business and from her role as Managing Director of ePowermac (an e-commerce store retailing digital storage systems). Rachel is also a member of the Australian Computer Society and a board member of Start-Up Gladstone, a not for profit organisation aiming to support individuals with ideas, start-ups and micro-businesses to grow successful businesses.

Jane Seawright

Independent Director

Jane is an experienced lawyer, marketing professional and non-executive director with wide experience across the sport, health, innovation and arts sectors. Jane was previously chair of the Queensland Institute of Medical Research Trust and a board member of the Residential Tenancies Authority. She has held roles as company secretary and general counsel at CRCMining and Northern Australia Primary Health Limited, is Netball Queensland chair, and is a board member of Racing Queensland and The Australian Festival of Chamber Music. Jane is a proud Townsville resident.

Ruth Durrant

Member Director, Energy Queensland

Ruth is an accomplished communications professional with more than 20 years’ experience across media and diverse industries. Her expertise in communications strategy, stakeholder management, crisis and emergency response is underpinned by her demonstrated interest in social impact and engagement.

Ruth started her career as a journalist, working throughout regional Queensland, before shifting into not-for-profits and then joining the energy sector. She now leads the Corporate Affairs function for Energy Queensland. Ruth also holds a Director position on the Board of AEIOU Foundation.

Darryl Rowell

Member Director, Powerlink

Darryl is an experienced executive in both Australia and New Zealand with a background in both private and public sectors, including the energy industry.

Prior to joining Powerlink, Darryl was the Chief Financial Officer at Queensland Urban Utilities.

At Powerlink, Darryl manages all finance, tax, treasury, investment analysis, contract management, internal audit, insurance, network regulation, and legal, business and risk services. He is also Powerlink’s Company Secretary.
